Hardcore in America is plagued by the intolerance of white middle class hetero-normative males.
Whiteness is relevant because of extant class disparities regarding race: white people are richer than everyone else because we come from families richer than everyone else and white bosses higher white workers etc.
Middle-classness is relevant because this ambiguous social context has us removed from the struggle of the rest of the world: we feel entitled and we use words and actions recklessly. Notice how hardcore kids mosh in a way that mimics violence (and is often truly violent). Only the privileged stratum don't have to think about how what they say and how they act affects everyone else.
Hetero-normativity is relevant in a very dire way. There are, unfortunately, still people in the world who think that heterosexuality is natural and everything else deviates from this.

When you say "fag" or "faggot" or "slut" or use racially degrading terms etc. you are perpetuating a culture of hatred that enables further, more overt, violence to continue to travel down the social hierarchy.

Times are changing. Violent language breeds violent opposition and if you don't want to change, the day will come when violent means will be used to shut you the fuck up.
