about

Hardcore kids and punks have, by and large, adopted the fatalistic logic of the mainstream when it comes to myths about human society: 1) we have adopted a belief that there is a human nature that precludes deviation and 2) that human nature is prone to selfishness and evil.

Human beings are dynamic, like everything else. Some of us are prone to violence (based on our genes and, more importantly, our environment) and some are prone to peace (based, again, on our genes and our environment). By and large, it can be said that human animals are peaceful when free and violent when enslaved.

The idea that there is a universal human nature and that it is innately "bad" is a shadow of a religious past. There is no way to prove that there is a universal human nature (and there is no way to prove that something is universally "good" or "evil" for that matter) but most of us swallow this illogic unquestioningly.
This is irresponsible, especially for a group of people who pride themselves on critical thinking.

When we live separate from everything - too afraid to do little lest we appear uncool or unbecoming in some other way - and it is because of this separateness that we are so fearful.

"The Christian resolution to find the world ugly and bad has made the world ugly and bad."

lyrics

Your misanthropy is a bourgeois sentiment which informs of middle class privilege and a white, Protestant, upbringing.
